Anti-Pipeline Journalists Ignore Mess from #NoDAPL ‘Water Protectors’

After Dakota Access Pipeline agitators left the Oceti Sakowin camp, they left behind huge amounts of trash and belongings including teepees, tents and sleeping bags.
The Washington Times reported in early February that clean up crews were “racing to clear acres of debris” before spring thaws create an “environmental disaster” at the site in North Dakota. Of course, liberal non-profit media outlets which favored Standing Rock protests haven’t exposed this anti-environmentalist behavior.
The Army Corps of Engineers said that the camp, which is on federal land, would be closed Feb. 22 to “prevent injuries and significant environmental damage …”
“Without proper remediation, debris, trash, and untreated waste will wash into the Cannonball River and Lake Oahe,” the Corps. added.
InsideClimate News and Democracy Now! both supported “water protectors” with slanted news coverage of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. Neither have yet admitted the environmental disaster left behind.
InsideClimate News called the Dakota Pipeline fight the “Sioux Tribe’s Cry for Justice,” but two stories about the pipeline published this month failed to acknowledge the massive amount of belongings and trash left behind.
The far left online television news outlet Democracy Now! was so close to the NoDAPL protests that its own anchor, Amy Goodman bragged about North Dakota wanting to arrest her being arrested in September 2016. “Riot” charges were later dismissed. The outlet continued to follow the story from the perspective of pipeline opponents. On Feb. 8, it tweeted “Water Protectors Call for Global Mass Mobilizations as Army Plans to Approve Dakota Access Pipeline” and linked to video on its site.
That video included only pipeline opposition and cited claims such as Amnesty International’s assertion that the Army Corps of Engineers decision to move forward with permits was a “human rights violation.” Participants also blamed the decision on “Trump tyranny.”
Democracy Now! Was one of many outlets which portrayed police as the aggressors and troublemakers of Standing Rock. Goodman continued that by referring to them as “militarized police” in that Feb. 8, broadcast.
Although Democracy Now! issued several recent reports about the pipeline, none of these four February reports mentioned the trash heaps or need for a massive clean up effort to protect the water the “water protectors” were so concerned with.
Both liberal outlets and their biased reported is funded by left-wing foundations including the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Park Foundation and Marisla Foundation among others.
